We communicated in March that fund changes impacting our life insurance, worksite, and institutional products will occur before May 1 and require new materials.
Fund substitutions and additions effective April 25
After close of the New York Stock Exchange on April 25, subject to Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) approval, MassMutual implemented six fund substitutions impacting approximately 25 variable products - variable life insurance, worksite and institutional business.

- Invesco V.I. Global has been replaced by MML Global; applies to products where Invesco V.I. Global and MML Global are part of the product’s fund lineup.
- MML Dynamic Bond has been replaced by MML Managed Bond.
- MML Equity Rotation has been replaced by MML Large Cap Growth.
- MML Fundamental Value has been replaced by MML Equity Income.
- MML High Yield has been replaced by MML Managed Bond
- MML Strategic Emerging Markets has been replaced by MML International Equity.
Prospectus supplements have been filed with the SEC and were mailed to impacted clients the week of March 17. See each product's prospectus supplement for substitutions and fund additions impacting that product.
Fund subadviser changes effective April 25
- MML Equity Index Fund—BlackRock Advisors, LLC replaced Northern Trust Investments, Inc.
- MML Global Fund—Invesco Advisers, Inc. replaced Massachusetts Financial Services Company.
- MML Mid Cap Growth Fund—T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. remains as the sole subadviser.
Fund name changes effective April 28
- Invesco V.I. Capital Appreciation Fund has been renamed Invesco V.I. Discovery Large Cap Fund.
No action is required; however, a follow-up letter regarding the fund name change and/or substitutions and additions and was mailed to impacted clients on April 28, encouraging recipients to review details.
Transition to new paperwork for fund substitutions and additions, and subadviser and name changes
- Life New Business will accept old versions of forms until June 30, 2025; however, if new funds are chosen, the revised (0425) forms must be submitted. Beginning July 1, 2025, the revised (0425) version of forms will be required.
Prospectuses and audited financial statements updated
As of April 28, 2025, updated prospectuses are available and you should:
Order initial summary prospectuses to distribute to prospective purchasers and for newly issued policies/contracts.
Variable product owners will receive prospectus updates according to the MassMutual Regulatory Mailing Reference Guide:
- Registered representatives should review disclosure distribution details and fulfill prospectus-update responsibilities.
